One of the memorable snapshots I captured during our visit to Walt Disney World in Orlando is the photo of Mickey while holding the hand of Walt Disney. Most of the people took the front shot of the statue so I decided to take the shot behind. The result – a worthy snapshot for my blog.
I like three things in this snapshot- the top, the bottom and the main object.
I like the effects of the blue sky covered mostly by the clouds. Ever since I moved to the Middle East, I am deprived to view a clear blue sky as there’s no clear sky in this part of the world. The sky is either dusty or covered with thin layered clouds. Since then I always look forward to seeing blue skies during my travels. Looking at the blue sky is a luxury for me – a priceless moment.
The bottom half of the photo is the people around the statue who added colors in the snapshot. These people depict the audience from all walks of life. At one point in their lives, they enjoyed watching Mickey. For sure the inner child in them has tickled once again.
Finally, the main object of the photo is Mickey and Walt Disney. Mickey’s way of holding the hand of Walt resembles a child holding the hand of his father. Walt Disney is showing to Mickey the panoramic view of Disneyland while saying, “I will never have this without you, Mickey.” Indeed Mickey and Walt Disney is a product of a brilliant imagination brought to life. The tandem is a great epitome of the creation and the creator.
Alas, how many of us created something which we are proud of? Be it a product, a business venture or like Mickey who is a fictional character. Maybe we created little things and insignificant ones but we can enumerate a list of great inventors, innovators and the new wave of social media magnets and IT leaders who we idolize. These are the people who created something that changes or influences the world. I couldn’t imagine the feeling of eureka felt by these creators whose creations became a huge success.
If I will compare Mickey to a local brand, I could say Jolibee rings a bell. Jolibee, created by Tony Tan Caktiong is now a Filipino icon for being not only a mascot but a giant bee with a jolly persona. Both of Mickey and Jolibee draw a cheerful smile on their faces and wear white gloves. Add the fact that both of them are surrounded by their friends.
Looking at the photo of Mickey and Walt Disney drives me to think more and may come up with something new. For now, the snapshot I took drives me to continue blogging. I started to dream again and visualize new goals again. Most of the ideas I think of are still silly thoughts and far to a reality. Still, I’m excited to the process of creating something new. It might not be the greatest hit, like Mickey, but at least, something I could be proud of.
