On our recent trip to South Padre Island, Texas, we decided to explore the local food scene, we found ourselves at Dirty Al’s at Pelican Station in Port Isabel for dinner.
One dish my in laws highly recommended and I was particularly excited to try was The Almondy, a fish fillet paired with garlic mashed potatoes and a three cheese cream sauce. Let me tell you, this dish did not disappoint! The fish tasted incredibly fresh, like it had just been caught that day. It was tender, flaky, and perfectly cooked, while the creamy three cheese sauce added a subtle richness that complemented the delicate flavor of the fish without overpowering it. The mashed potatoes were a comforting, buttery side that completed the meal perfectly. If you’re a seafood lover, The Almondy is a must-try when you visit.
I also had a chance to sample a cup of Lobster Bisque. It was a warm, rich soup with a smooth, velvety texture that really hit the spot on a cool evening. While it wasn’t the star of the meal, it was a great way to start and definitely added to the overall experience.
If you ever find yourself at Dirty Al’s, do yourself a favor and order The Almondy — it’s hands down one of the best choices on the menu!
