Get Well Soon Doc Willie

I recently watched Doc Willie Ong’s latest vlog and felt a mix of emotions. I was saddened to learn that he is undergoing cancer treatment. It’s disheartening to see such a good person facing such a challenging ordeal. It makes me question why good people like him have to endure the dreaded Big C.

At the same time, I’m concerned about him expressing frustration towards his bashers even while dealing with his health issues, especially after his electoral loss in 2022 National Election. Being a public figure exposes him to criticism and harsh comments on social media. While it’s expected when you’re in the public eye, it must be particularly difficult for Doc Willie given his current circumstances.

Followed by his recent vlog are the Facebook posts about stress being a deadly killer. While stress does affect our health, it’s a part of life that we must learn to manage. Finding moments of inner peace and taking breaks are crucial. If you find yourself in a toxic situation, it’s important to seek ways to move out of that place and find a good place elsewhere for growth.

There’s a sentiment that, as a man of medicine, Doc Willie should have recognized the symptoms of his cancer earlier. However, he mentioned in his earlier vlog episode that he mistook his symptoms for signs of aging as he approached his 60th birthday. It’s ironic that someone who provides medical advice to the public can still fall ill. It’s akin to financial advisors struggling with their finances or architects unable to maintain a decent home – inevitable things can happen to anyone, regardless of their expertise.

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned from Doc Willie’s situation, it’s the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, no matter how challenging it may seem. Personally, I acknowledge that I am currently overweight and out of shape, but I am committed to making positive changes after my two-week vacation. For now, I prioritize finding peace away from work during my much-needed time off.

I have included Doc Willie in my prayers, wishing him a complete healing and inner peace. Get well soon, Doc!
