They said early bird catches the early worm. I am one of those early birds. I’m a working swan and I go to office each day. I wake up at five in the morning and prepare my breakfast. Once I’m done with my morning routine, I’m ready to go.
I always pass the canal, the longest canal in the city. The busy canal is usually the one taken by working birds like me. If I did not move out from my nest at six in the morning, boy, I will spend almost my whole morning in the canal – stuck in traffic.
Traffic has gone from worse to worst since I started working.
Some birds of the same feather flock together in the metro train. I hate joining them, not because my feather is not colorful like theirs. I simply don’t want to squeeze myself in just to find a tiny place inside the metro. Now you know why I commute and take a long trip in the canal.
But something’s different today.
The busy canal is so peaceful. The lane is wide and clear. But it should not be like this. It’s still rush hour. Where the heck are those birds?
I don’t see other birds along the canal. I checked my watch – thinking I might be late. Maybe all of working birds have reached their offices. But no, my watch says it’s still six fifteen.
Maybe today is my lucky day!
No traffic.
No delay.
No loud quacks from big birds and crazy ducks along the street.
The canal is mine haha!
Then I saw a billboard saying…
“Today is Donald Duck Day! It is a special non-working holiday. So sleep tight birdies and enjoy the rest of the day!”
Damn…
